Stone Ocean is another leap forward for the series, not necessarily in structural or conceptual terms (the story still follows a “stand user of the week” type of formula, which is probably my biggest complaint of it), but part 6 is home to some of the best characters of the entire series and a greater sense of maturity that gives the story an incredible sense of meaning and tragedy. After finishing Stone Ocean, I feel more confident than ever in thinking of VA as a point of inflection for the series, when Araki’s abilities as an artist and as a storyteller began to really solidify. The chief director is Kenichi Suzuki, with the job of director going to Toshiyuki Kato. The anime consists of twelve episodes, and is produced by david production. The opening song, meanwhile, is called “Stone Ocean” and is performed by ichigo of Kishida Kyōdan & The Akeboshi Rockets.

Universal Music Japan also shared on Twitter that this was the ending song. While most anime opening and closing songs are done by Japanese artists, Duffy is Welsh, and her song originally came out in 2008. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean debuts on Netflix today, and in episode two we learn that the ending theme song is “Distant Dreamer” by Duffy.
